Building for the Kingdom is different from building for other Gulf markets. Arabic is the primary language, e-invoicing is mandated, data location matters and the customer base is growing quickly in sectors the government has prioritised. This page explains how we approach those requirements as an app development team for Saudi Arabia.
Saudi products we have shipped
AtUrHome is a last-mile logistics platform for Saudi e-commerce. Sellers were facing high shipping costs and slow delivery because of reliance on distant central warehouses, so the model uses micro-warehouses spread across residential neighborhoods. We built the technology platform that manages distribution and delivery operations, with direct courier-to-customer communication and live tracking, plus driver apps on iOS and Android. It is live in Riyadh with 35+ success partners.
Saudi Signs is the digital presence of a 40-year-old signage manufacturer with three facilities and a client roster of more than 2,000 brands. We delivered a corporate marketing site with a solutions catalog covering signage, printing and digital, a project showcase and case-study system, and a content structure that spans multiple facilities and locations.
ZATCA e-invoicing and the Fatoora platform
Saudi Arabia requires e-invoicing under ZATCA, the tax authority, through its Fatoora platform. In broad terms, the first phase covers generating compliant invoices with required fields and a QR code, and the second phase covers integration with ZATCA systems in waves, including sending or clearing invoices and applying cryptographic stamps. Which phase applies to a business, and from when, depends on ZATCA's announcements, so please confirm current requirements for your business.
We treat ZATCA as its own workstream, not a box to tick at the end. That means agreeing the invoice data model early, testing against ZATCA's published technical specifications and sandbox, and keeping invoice records immutable and auditable. We do not claim any certification, and your accountant or tax adviser should confirm which invoice types and flows your business must support.
Arabic, RTL and bilingual product design
Arabic is not a translation file added at the end. Right-to-left layouts affect navigation, forms, tables, charts, icons, date formats, numerals and PDF output. We build RTL support into the component library from the first sprint, so every new screen is bilingual by default and you do not pay twice to retrofit it.
Our AtUrHome work carries the Arabic tag for a reason, and our Belleza storefront for Bahrain ships in Arabic and English. We also advise on content, because Arabic microcopy written by a native speaker usually converts better than a literal translation of English labels.
Vision 2030 sectors and where software fits
Many Saudi software budgets sit in sectors the Kingdom has prioritised, including logistics, e-commerce and retail, tourism and hospitality, healthcare, education, fintech and industrial manufacturing. These sectors reward platforms that digitise manual operations, connect couriers, branches and customers, and report in real time.
Our delivery history leans toward operational software, such as dispatch, field tracking, multi-tenant platforms and ERP or logistics integrations, so we are most useful where a business needs a system of record plus apps for the people on the ground. We say so plainly when a project is outside what we do well.
SAR pricing, data residency and how we work
We can scope and invoice in Saudi riyals against milestones, paid by bank transfer or Wise, with the contract and IP assignment in writing before work starts. A focused MVP is typically an 8 to 14 week fixed-scope build, and the free scoping call ends with a written number. You own the source code and infrastructure access at handover.
Where data lives is an architecture decision we make at the start. The Kingdom has personal data protection rules and cloud requirements that can affect hosting and cross-border transfers, and these depend on your sector and data type. For SalesPattern we deployed on AWS Sydney for local latency and data residency, and we apply the same approach in Saudi projects, selecting a region with your legal team. Riyadh is on UTC+3 with no daylight saving, so Lahore is two hours ahead and we cover Saudi business hours live. The Saudi working week runs Sunday to Thursday, and we plan sprints and releases around it.
